I am writing to announce an upcoming conference that I am organizing with Victor Fernández-Mallat and Adriana Patiño. As a part of the Asociación de Lingüística y Filología de América Latina (ALFAL), I co-organize Proyecto 16: Cuestiones lingüísticas en relación con la diáspora latinoamericana. The ALFAL, an international academic community, meets every three years, but on the off-years, some projects host what are called “ALFALitos.” With that, I invite you and your students to submit an abstract to ALFALito 2022, which will be held from September 29^th to October 1^st at UIUC. The theme of the conference is “Mobility of people and their linguistic practices: Sociolinguistic, grammatical, and language contact approaches.” To promote a multilingual environment, abstracts may be submitted in Spanish, Portuguese, or English, and the accepted papers may be presented in either of those languages as well. Additionally, this conference will be held in conjunction with a professional development workshop on linguistic diversity and sociolinguistic applications in the classroom for local Champaign-Urbana K-12 public school teachers. All conference attendees will be welcome to attend and participate in the workshop.
