Open Positions at the UEF
Ten post-doctoral researcher positions at the University of Eastern Finland, deadline 30 September at 3 pm
(…) Borders, Mobilities and Cultural Encounters (Prof. James Scott, Prof. Jopi Nyman) (…)
The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is one of the largest universities in Finland. The UEF is a multidisciplinary university, which offers teaching in more than 100 major subjects. The university has approximately 15,000 students and some 2,800 members of staff, and the university’s campuses are located in Joensuu, Kuopio and Savonlinna.
The University of Eastern Finland invites applications for the above mentioned research areas. The number of positions per research area is not pre-defined; instead, the most distinguished and well-suited candidates will be selected. The principal duty of the post-doctoral researcher is to complete the research presented in the research proposal. The post-doctoral researcher will also participate in the supervision of academic theses in the post-doctoral researcher’s field of research, and give teaching in the field in question.Successful applicants to the post-doctoral researcher positions will hold a doctoral degree, which may not have been completed more than five years before the application deadline. In this context, the five-year limit refers to a net period of time, which does not include maternity leaves, parental leaves, or military service, etc. If the applicant pleads to the above mentioned reasons, he or she needs to explain them in the application. Experience in international research cooperation, international researcher mobility, and intent of engaging in international researcher mobility will be regarded as merits.
The post-doctoral researcher positions will be filled for a three-year term beginning on 1 January 2015. Post-doctoral researcher positions are always filled for a fixed term (UEF Administrative Regulations, Section 30). The salary is based on level 5 of the job requirement level chart of the teaching and research staff in the salary system for Finnish universities (€2 840.64/month). In addition to the job requirement component, the salary includes a personal performance component, which may be a maximum of 46.3 % of the job requirement component.
A person can hold a post-doctoral position financed by the UEF’s strategic funding only once.
The written application addressed to the Board of the University of Eastern Finland should be delivered to the registry office of the Joensuu or Kuopio Campus by 30 September at 15:00 (3 pm Finnish time) at the latest.
