Employment opportunities:Researcher on Evaluation of Integration Policies For the Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX)
Purpose of the Job: To support CIDOB in delivering the MIPEX through coordination of desk research on integration policy evaluations and the writing up of the MIPEX results; and support migration department.
Duration: 100% or four-days-a-week for 18-months, 1 November 2013 to 31 June 2015 (subject to final approval of project by European Commission)

Reporting to: MIPEX Project Director (E. Sanchez-Montijano) and working in close cooperation with MIPEX Research Coordinator at Migration Policy Group (Brussels)
CIDOB is one of the lead partners of the project to update the Migrant Integration Policy Index (http://www.mipex.eu/), which uses indicators to compare countries’ integration policies in seven areas. The researcher on evaluation of integration policies will assist in the writing up and the coordination of the MIPEX research, specifically in the coordination of desk research on integration policy evaluations in ten countries.
Key responsibilities
1) Coordinating desk research on integration policy evaluations in ten countries
-Identifying EU countries with most evaluations measuring integration policy impact
-Establishing criteria for measuring quality of evaluations (based on econometric methods of causal interference)
-Recruiting and coordinating assessors in each country for desk research to collect and summarise evaluations in the seven MIPEX policy areas
-Analysing and presenting these evaluations on http://www.mipex.eu/
2) Writing up the MIPEX results
-Conducting comparative analysis of updates of MIPEX policy indicators in the seven areas
-Writing the updates of the MIPEX country profiles for a wide public
-Collaborating in the design and use of the research with a wide variety of policymakers and stakeholders
3) Working with CIDOB team
-Supporting EU/Spain policy analysis
-Collaborating in CIDOB research project and activities
Skills, knowledge, experience:Essential
•Master degree or PhD in Social Sciences / Humanities
•Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather, compare, and summarise complex information
•Excellent writing skills, with the ability to present information and arguments in an articulate and persuasive manner in English (proficiency level)
•Familiarity with issues and terminology on migration and integration
•Some experience with qualitative data and comparative research
Desirable
•Knowledge and use of Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX)
•Independent research interests in migration or integration
•Knowledge of additional languages
•Previous publications using qualitative analysis
•Good knowledge of Spanish will be an asset
