SLA Workshop

The doctoral students in the Applied Linguistics PhD Program at the Universitat de Barcelona and the GRAL Research Group (UB) are organizing a workshop on the topic of Reliability and Validity of Instruments and Measures in SLA Research: Facing Dilemmas in Data Selection, Analysis and Reporting.This workshop aims at discussing common dilemmas within SLA research on reliability and validity assessment, and data reporting and selection. The workshop will address the following issues:
1. Methods and techniques used to assess the reliability and validity of testing instruments and measures.
2. Sample selection, representability and generalizability.
3. Data reporting techniques.
4. Managing outliers in qualitative and quantitative paradigms.
Dr. Rob Schoonen (University of Amsterdam), Dr. Martin Lamb (University of Leeds) and Dr. Luke Plonsky (Northern Arizona University) will be participating as invited speakers.
